For the low pectin fruit (like raspberries or strawberries) i previously had to use pectin sugar at £2 for a kilo bag. Now i use 69p ordinary sugar with the recommended 8g of this pectin. Result is that my jam now costs just under half of what it did before. And there is also the flexibility of using smaller amounts for mid pectin fruit. I am still in the trial and error stage but after a batch each of raspberry, apricot, plum and strawberry i am pretty confident that i will now get it right just about every time. I have also discovered that it’s best to pre-mix the powder with some or all of the sugar before adding it. That way there is no possibility of lumps of undissolved pectin forming.
It is simple – it is pectic in a tub and quite a reasonable quantity to make a large number of jams for the home user. My cherry jam was proving difficult to set prior to getting my hands on this pectin powder. The addition of this powder with the sugar has been a revalation and all the guesswork has been removed from getting the right setting point.
I chose this rating because i had to break in to the container as it was sealed completely and also it’s a little difficult to dissolve but it’s still a very good product that leaves no aftertaste and doesn’t affect the quality of your jams.

Absolutely brilliant product. I make a lot of jellies for the local market, and strawberry has always been almost impossible to set. I also make herb jellies, and this powder, added to the sugar ensures a good set every time. I will definitely buy again.
