Very happy with this product. I regularly use another of this company’s products and thought i would give this variety a try. I used it with a bread maker, and was very happy with the result. Nice well risen bread with a thin crisp crust. I’ll be ordering again in the future.
Everyone likes this bread. . I have found it is better to make the dough in the bread machine and then let it rise naturally for making loaves or rolls in the oven. For some reason it doesn’t rise so well in the bread machine. Very good for the price, and labour-saving.
So so easy to make, instructions are extremely easy to follow, and it tastes superb – actually, it bakes itself. Here are the specifications for the Bacheldre Watermill Rustic Crunch Bread Mix 500 g:
- Stoneground wheat flour and all the right amount of ingredients to make a perfect loaf. This one has seeds, oats and wholegrains added to make that perfect loaf with a crunch
- Tasty and textured but not too heavy
- Strong for bread making
- Just add water
- Enough to make 10 x 500 g loaves
Just for information the mix coast £1. 39 a loaf and saves the small hassle (not a big hassle) of adding yeast, sugar, salt, vitamin c and possibly mild powder. You still add water and fat (butter or love oil). You can by the same just as flour for 87p per loaf. I guess you are saving 10 mins and does make an easy life. Bread mixes should be used on the fast bake white setting as the yeast is all mixed in, as opposed to the normal setting where the yeast is put in separate to the other ingredients and allowed to brew. If you use a timer then this could cause problems as when you add the water the yeast will be active which is different to your separated ingredients. If you use the 5 hour setting especially with a timer it might not rise as much as you expect.
I also love the malted bread mix too. I have tried the white bread mix, but i’m not so keen on that, but that is a personal preference and nothing to do with the excellent quality of the bread mix. I’m using a vonshef bread making machine and whatever bacheldre bread mix i use, i have had consistent results time and again. They all go in on the basic setting for 3hours + 30-40 mins on ‘keep warm’. I use to add flora quisine/light touch but found 3tsp – (as per the instructions. That’s tea spoons(tsp), not tablespoons (tbsp) that other reviewers have had failures with) of olive oil was much better. Pro’s; consistent results, tastes really good and only takes 3hrs to make. Con’s; it would be nice to ‘mix ‘n match’, i.

Perfect bread (rustic crunch bread mix). I was initially apprehensive about buying a bread mix, as what i like about making my own bread is knowing what goes in it, but having bought bacheldre flour before, i knew that it wouldn’t be full of e numbers. And so, apart from ascorbic acid, it contains the ingredients that i normally make bread with. Using this bread mix means that you only need to add water as well as butter or oil (optional). I’ve tried it a few times now using some oil (it says use three tablespoons but i use about one and it’s fine) on a ‘sandwich’ and also on ‘french’ setting in my panasonic sd-255 bread maker and it makes perfect bread every time. I bought the pack of ten for my first purchase, but i intend to buy a 16 or 25kg sack next time as well as trying the other mixes. To recap, if you like to make bread (either in a bread maker or by hand) and want a good quality bread mix to make it even easier, then i can recommend this product.
